These boxes are resistant to accidental sparks and shocks, making them ideal for potentially hazardous places such as a functioning laboratory. The explosion-proof enclosure prevents volatiles from combusting by keeping the electrical components on the outside of the unit, greatly diminishing the chance of sparks igniting material stored within.
